The Market Place is staffed by a committed and highly motivated group of people, both paid and voluntary. The staff team is made up of workers with a range of personal and professional experience – this includes qualified Youth Workers and Counsellors as well as those in training gaining experience in research and mental health work.
The staff work in different partnerships, forums and task groups alongside other organisations and agencies across the city. Developing strategies to support young people’s needs and ensuring young people are on the agenda and that they are being supported in appropriate ways.
I started working for The Market Place as Chief Executive in January 2015 after working for 8 years for a National Children’s Charity managing child sexual exploitation and missing from home projects across West and North Yorkshire.
All of my working history is within the Voluntary Sector and predominately with services supporting young people, where I’ve worked as a front line practitioner, manager and most recently as Chief Executive. I am a qualified and registered social worker and an experienced practice educator and trainer. I am passionate about ensuring the voices of young people are heard and inform all areas of service offer and delivery.
As Chief Executive I have responsibility for ensuring that the service is a safe and accessible place for young people and that it continues to receive funding to ensure that it can continue to offer the range of services it does to support the young people from Leeds.
The Market Place is a key service in Leeds and supports over 1000 young people every year. I feel very privileged to work as part of such an experienced and committed team and to come into contact with some amazing and resilient young people.
